@Kaarulander Natakue covered it perfectly. Check his primer video. It’s pretty much how I do it. But I “dust” my models. Just a light coat.

Heya mate, nice vids. Lotsa great tips for beginers and advanced hobbyists! Quick Q, whats your opinion of the GW spraygun? I know it got re-called and was re-released, just wondered what you thought of it. Got one a while back n plan on using it soon. Hoping you won’t slate it toooooo much ;)

@scuttlepussy I hated the gw spraygun, my main problem I had with it, was the gas can freezing up. When you use a gas propellant the the pressure inside causes the gas to rapidly cool which means it loses pressure, which stops you from spraying. The instructions tells you to stop spraying and allow the can to reach room temperature again before spraying again which takes an hour!! which means the nozzle has to be cleaned everytime you wait for the can to warm up. It was a joke, I threw it away.

    Great video! :-)

    Re: Adhesives
I use Tamiya Clear (X-22) as “glue” to attach flock to bases. It’s more durable than PVA glue, and it’s water-proof when dry, so you can apply washes to it afterward. This works especially well with Woodland Scenics flock, because it’s soft and spongy and gets “caught” securely in the paint layer. (I was just looking at a miniature I painted 10 years ago that still has the layer of Woodland Scenics flock that I attached to the base with Tamiya Clear.)

    Re: Prep
Before I paint metal parts, I clean off the mold lubricant by soaking them overnight in white vinegar. You can get a gallon-size jug in the grocery store.

    Re: Primer
Try Benjamin Moore Super Spec HP Acrylic Metal Primer, either with a regular brush or an airbrush.

    Re: Paints
If you like Tamiya, another brand you might try is Gunze Sangyo.

    Re: Cleaning
You can clean stubborn paint off of metal or glass (not plastic) surfaces with acetone. (Acetone will damage plastic.)

That flash scraper looks very handy. Hate having to use the craft knife; it always slips and it either dulls the blade or you get a nick off it. Either way not good. I must go see if I can find a place in UK where I can get one (or one similar)
