I don’t have any land raiders..yet. I think that they would fit in the Plano 1404 though.

I use a 10 dollar tool box from walmart…the bottom holds my tanks, bag of dice, templates…whatever else and it comes with a top tray that my foot guys go in…I use something like styrafoam but its in a thin, flexible sheet that you get in packages to protect the stuff

what do you think is the best way to fit tyranid figures. only the infantry would be able to fit in the plano fishing boxes. what should i do with the trygon, carnifexs, and the gargoyles that don’t fit in that?

I keep my big tyranids in the case pictured at 3:20 in the video, the Plano 1404.

Do you know the name for the foam you use? I live in the UK, and “egg crate foam” apparently isn’t an instantly recognisable description.. Having looked in all hobby/DIY stores in my town I have found no foam like it, so I think I may need to order form the US… so yea, do you know the name or a link to a US site with it?

Well, personally what I do for my storage, for each army (in may case two, fantasy lizardmen and lord of the rings dwarves) Get a tup a ware box, throw in a base of foam penuts, carefully put in your models, and an other layer of foam penuts, it works ALMOST PERFECTLY and it is by far teh cheapest method. ANd wehn you shake it, NO noise at all, so they can’t be rattling around, only thing is, if you’re wanting to set iup a battle quickly, well, it can be pretty messy. That’s just what I do.

Hey Devstro, I think you have a good theory, I would probally pick Inexpensive and Protection. That would be my tool box and GW case. I tryed designing some trays on battlefoam, and in september I will be getting my first P.A.C.K. 720 case from Battlefoam. Thanks for the tips I think I’ll be going to fabricland more often! Okay Check ya later.

I’ve been playing miniature games for 20 years and got into the habit of using metal toolboxes. I magnetize all bases and this keeps the mini’s fairly stable. You do give up protection as they can move around in there, but you can stack an entire army in one box. If you get some of the deep drawer kind, you can put cavalry and monsters in them. Most of my infantry is now in the box on their trays, which makes it convenient for setup and take down.

With the prevalence of plastic boxes and movement trays, you can use plastic boxes and construct racks for the trays in the bottom. Racks are wooden frames screwed to the sides (the trays stack vertically) or sitting side by side so the frame can be pulled out for access. In the top tool tray, you can put skirmishers or just tools of the trade (dice, ruler, templates). With both methods, you wouldn’t want to ship the mini’s, but for routine storage and transport, it is quite good.
