Where can I sell expensive unclaimed sculptures?

Heres the situation. I live in San Antonio Texas and a friend of mine runs a storage facility. A few years ago a storage full of sculptures was foreclosed. Turns out these bronze and wooden sculptures are worth thousands of dollars. Where can he sell them? He has no Idea where to start?

Start by researching galleries for one or two that carry similar items and thus have expertise. Contact them and ask what steps you should take, offering reasonably good images of the pieces (clear and taken in good light – they don’t have to be sales brochure quality) and asking is someone can see the pieces. With any images, by word or by including a painted pole or survey stick, suggest the size of the pieces so it is clear whether they are about 1 foot or 6 feet tall.

As an additional suggestion. And it sounds like you may have already done this. You might try to locate any artist’s name on the pieces ,usually on the base somewhere, if they aren’t too large to move around with out damaging them or yourself. For two reasons one it would give you additional information to use in dealing with whomever you are talking with about their sale. And secondly, you might be able to research the artist here on the internet giving you some idea of their worth.. There are sites such as this one,
    http://www.findartinfo.com/
and other similar ones that will give you some history on an individual artist’s sales if they are of some reputation. I’ve noticed that some of these site may require registration. Nice little find that you’ve made.

have them appraised, if they are not anything famous , the bronze Metal might be worth more than the art work
