Miniature Titania’s Palace
June 19th, 2010 Posted 2:27 pm
Danish children’s book author Shane Brox guides you through one of the most beautiful dollhouse palaces in the world; Titania’s Palace. It was the name given to an intricately constructed edifice created by British peer Sir Nevile Wilkinson as a dwelling place for the Fairy Queen Titania, inspired by his small daughter Guendolen’s imagination. The Palace, which includes more than 3000 pieces of miniature furniture and treasures, took almost 30 years to complete and was officially inaugurated by Queen Mary in 1922. It was exhibited throughout the world and raised the equivalent of 60 million danish kroner for the benefit of deprived and handicapped children, before it was sold by Guendolen in the late 60’s. As her father, she had a good heart too and the entire sales of the palace was donated to a children’s home. Today the palace can be visited at Egeskov castle in Denmark.

Picnics are, defined as, event done outside completely. So don’t imagine ‘delicate’ when you’re considering of picnic tables. You have to bear in mind that these are furniture which is bound to be outdoors throughout the day, maybe throughout days. so they need to be portable. Children will be jumping on them, spill food and drinks, both hot and cold, on the tables, and treat them occasionally as percussion instruments. Thank goodness, those concerns were considered by makers already. This is the reason thermoplastic or plastisol-coated tables have become the most common patio furniture now. These are available in smooth or rough finish, in every color, plus are UV protected, water-proof and stain proofed. Being lighter than wood, they are simple to transport around. Tables made of one hundred percent recycled plastic are also popular with families, if they are a bitmore expensive than plastisol ones.
Heavy duty
When it comes to furniture, wood still manages to retain its hold on those who want to stick to traditional things. Originally these tables were made of wood, as platic goods were not available till a few decades ago. And with the modern super plastics, picnic furniture are the robust items they have to be.
Any way you see it, portable picnic tables are a source of great fun and entertainment.

This writing talks about some of the advantages of sandals and how to aquire a wide choice of modern more popular shoe ware.
The history of sandals goes back very far but became very popular in the Roman era at which time they were worn by soldiers and civilians alike. Mens sandals and womens sandals have become part of most closets and this writing discusses not only styles plus where to get discount prices on the popular makes.
The first sandals were made by our earliest ancestors to protect their feet from thorns and other rough material when foraging or hunting. And they would have been made with the most basic of ingredients that were to hand in those primeval times- these early sandals are a far cry from the sophisticated crafts that are made today.
The major breakthrough with sandal production came with the discovery of tanning. Tanning is the treatment of leather to protect it and to make it last longer.
Tanning and the art that it became is a subject for another piece, but the earliest tanning was achieved by rubbing the leather with the barks of certain trees. The trees contained tannic acid which is the beginning of the method of creating the leather that we know today.
The forms of sandals accessible now has come from the history of the sandal and we can find the Roman influence in the popular Gladiator sandals as well as the native American influence amongst the many forms available now.
And with the development of leather shoes came the obvious increase in leather for other affairs- hats and cushions to name a few. Most of the early shields used in combat were made of leather.
