Kitchen Cupboards
November 17th, 2009 Posted 2:18 pm
A kitchen can be one of the costliest rooms to transform in your home. There are the appliances, of course, and depending on which ones you select, this could be a huge part of the cost of remodeling. But that is’s an obvious budget hit we’re all prepared for. What many people overlook is the pricetag concerned in replacement of the kitchen cupboards and cupboards.
When I transformed my kitchen recently, after I found out how expensive it would be to replace the kitchen cupboards, I considered simply refinishing the ones I already have. I couldn’t believe that wood and finish could cost so much money when I could just take the current cupboards, strip them, sand them and refinish them for a fraction of the pricetag. I changed my mind about doing that after watching a TV show about house flipping and seeing all of the work that goes into refinishing the cupboards that were already in effect. It was a lot more work than I presumed.
I decided to just buy new fixtures, figuring the time I’d save by not refinishing the existing kitchen cupboards would be worth the extra expense. What I had not planned on, though, was that my husband and I would have such different taste in kitchen cabinetry.
I wanted kitchen cupboards that were easy and functional and I thought that getting a couple of cabinets with glass doors on the front would add a pretty touch. My husband had other ideas. He wanted trendy, fancy, masculine-looking cabinets, with all of the special features like a special custom drawer for pots and pans and a butcher block cutting board that slides out from a secret compartment built into the kitchen cupboards. And he would not even entertain my idea of glass front cupboard doors because our kitchen cupboards are always such a mess. What’s the point of having see-through cupboards to display our messiness to the world? He had a good point. It’s hard enough cleaning the visible areas of our home when we have folk over without being concerned about making sure our kitchen cupboards are in order.
Eventually we compromised and acquired cupboards for our kitchen that we both liked. We made a decision against the glass front doors, and did not get any custom made features like the sliding butcher block cutting board. And the new kitchen cupboards still ended up costing us more than the replacement cost of all of the appliances.

November 6th, 2009 Posted 8:52 am
Have you always wondered how to turn your house into a home. You should perhaps consider Canvas Prints, which are becoming bigger hits in the arts and culture circle these days. These Photos on Canvas depict a lot of images which make them great decorative pieces for any space. If you can’t decide what fill your art space with, then ask some friends or family for opinions.
Canvas prints have become must-have pieces of art work for aficionados especially those who think of visual representations as immortally telling and transcendent. If you are a novice and you have not encountered such pieces, you can easily lean about them by looking at the samples online. There are also stores that have readily available pieces that you can buy depending on what particular designs you need.
Canvas prints are great for matching room interiors with customized artwork. The whole process of customization can be quite simple. You can send them a certain image or photograph of yourself or object or person and they will have it printed on a piece of canvas for you. All you need to provide aside from the photograph is the specific dimensions you would want the print to be in.
Setting a budget for the canvas prints you want to buy is essential as it is very easy to get lost in the sea of artistic possibilities that it is highly likely that you will fail to control yourself to spend. Make a list of how many rooms you want to decorate and the appropriate numbers of pieces that are needed to be procured then proceed to check up on the prices of each piece.
Your decision should depend largely on how you like the rooms to look like and the amount of cash that you can afford to spend on the canvas prints that are to be hung in each of them. Once you have settled on a theme or perhaps several different but complimentary themes, the next step will be the actual purchasing of the pieces. Remember to always go for the best possible pieces that you can find.Be sure these will fit into your desired room. This can be done in the form of a proof before going ahead.
You do not have to be an art mogul to have an eye for what will look great in your home living space. Your Billiards and Barstools – Info On
October 18th, 2009 Posted 12:11 pm
Billiards and billiards game have their style. When we think about a place or a room for billiards we should take into account some elements and the order of importance…
Billiards and barstools go hand in hand if you are planning on creating the ultimate game room for your home or even for your club. If you thought that creating a game room was difficult, think again. Making it an ‘ultimate’ game room does not mean it has to be filled with expensive billiards and barstools. The following tips will help you create a game room you never even dreamt about.
The first thing you will have to do is forget about the billiards and barstools and focus on the wall colors that will look perfect for the game room. Creating the perfect ambience must be done before selecting the billiards and barstools. A two-toned color could be selected by using the top border in one color and painting the rest with a complimentary color.
You could also add a little fun to this and try to match one of your favorite colors selected from a sports team that you like, your high school colors or anything that caught your eye. Always make sure the darker color remains the border color and the lighter shade becomes your main wall color. This will look nice especially when you add the billiards and barstools with the posters and other cool signs you like.
When we talk about the flooring, make sure you choose either hardwood or one of the following; cork, vinyl, carpet tiling, ceramic tiling or cork.
Next in line will be the billiards and barstools which comes under the category of furniture and other items. Depending on the theme you are trying to create, make sure the billiards and barstools match everything in it. For instance, trying to create a Hawaiian effect would need you to have billiards and barstools made out of wicker or rattan.
Once the billiards and barstools have been purchased, next thing you must do is get the perfect lighting. A sports theme would be perfect with pub lamps, floor lamps or swag lights used. Bamboo lamps and hanging lanterns would be much suitable for an Asian theme.
Having the perfect music will entertain your guests for a very long time. A jukebox would set the mood for this. Additionally, you could put up some neon signs with a few posters to augment the whole setting.
