Look to the Internet for Great Gift Ideas
October 27th, 2009 Posted 8:24 am
I’m a little embarassed to admit this, but I am a gift giving catastrophe waiting to happen. I guess it’s not really that I’m bad about the presenting part, itself. Whenever it is gift-giving time, it just takes me an extremely long time to move beyond the decision stage. I don’t know why my ideas seem to me to lack any originality or creativity. I’m sure you’ve already figured out the solution to my despair: the Internet.
The Internet is full of the usual and the unusual when it comes to gift suggestions. Of course I know that a lot of the people making suggestions are actually trying to get me to spend my hard earned money. Actually, I don’t even object to that. I figure if someone can help me solve my gift quandry, then they deserve to make a profit from my purchase. In my country, that’s the patriotic way to look at it!
Is there anyplace other than the online world where I might be inspired to get my mother a New York cheesecake in place of the tin of cookies I sent year after year? Yes, I am clever enough that now I figured out on my own that I can even radically change to a different cheesecake flavor!
My sister-in-law has my same decision making problem. She went online and discovered a jewelry idea for her aunt (on the good side of the family–not mine). It worked out beautifully for her but it raised the bar to a higher standard for me.
There are gift ideas online for various age groups like retired folks or young couples. You can also use a search engine to find articles recommending gifts of all the gift giving occasions from Bat Mitzvahs or Easter, birthdays to graduations, or even what I lovingly refer to as the “Hallmark holidays,” such as Valentine’s Day or Sweetest Day or take your terrier to work day. You can even search by the category of the item that you want to give. For example, you might know that you want to give a video game for a Playstation, a piece of jewelry that includes diamonds (you’ve just moved out of my price range) or even a gift for a dog.
There are many entire websites created for gift klutzes just like me where people publish ideas. Apparently they have so many ideas they can afford to share them. If you happen to be one of those sorts of blessed people with too many ideas to use yourself, consider sharing them with me so that I can steal them from you and take the credit. Just publish them online. You can count on my everlasting appreciation.

Handbag As A Gift
October 7th, 2009 Posted 2:42 pm
My partner and I love to go to different places. In the early years of the marriage, ur traveling typically will include camping or motel because we could not afford to stay in hotels. We tend to travel to areas that had natural scenery to see. These beautiful areas usually have good camping grounds and it is usually free or inexpensive to see. Our financial power starts to build up as we progressed with our jobs. After we clear all our loans, we are able to spend a bit more money to indulge our self in our travels. The first place we stop over was New York City.
We have a common friend that is currently staying in New York.He lived there for many years. He is always generous and have been asking us to visit and stay with him when we are in New York.So we told him of our plan of visiting him. He gladly welcome us.
There are so many people wanting us to buy things for them. The most sought after request is the New York Handbags. Many have asked us to buy handbag for them. These are not the usual branded stuff but are those handbags that are found at the roadside stall. Well, I will prefer to buy bag off the coach factory handbag outlet store.
When we are there over at New York, I got some direction on where to find the handbags. At the beginning I was alittle worried that buying from such stalls might be illegal since the handbag could be stolen goods. But my friend say that it is perfectly fine to buy from them. The stalls are all legal.I went shopping and was delighted to see that they are so cheap.I bought a whole lot of them and will be back for Christmas. More about handbag at coach factory handbag outlet store. More about this at Replica Designer Handbags
Looking for The Perfect Retirement Gift for Him?
June 23rd, 2009 Posted 12:38 am
Unlike women, who prefer lifetime membership at spas or having a ticket in a trip across the world, men simply have different tastes when it comes to retirement gifts. Women want to be pampered and bath in luxury, while men just want something that affirms their virility.
They want nothing more than to be a young and energetic young man again, where they can play sports all day and eat anything they want without thinking of the health risks associated with it. So to speak, a good retirement gift must make them almost relive those moments.
Some Tips for Finding The Perfect Retirement Gift for Him
When it comes to sports, nothing says “still playable by old people” other than the century-old sport, golf. So gifts like personalized golf sets (if he’s left handed, give a customized golf set for left-handed men), monogrammed golf balls and gloves are perfect gifts not only to encourage him to be active once again, it also helps when it contributes to his declining health.
If golf sets are a tad too expensive, you may opt for squash or tennis racquets along with customized polo shirts with the family logo (if they have one). What is important is that you rekindle the sports loving gent inside of him. These kind of gifts always work—has anyone heard of a man who doesn’t watch ESPN or isn’t addicted to Monday night Football or Friday night Basketball?
A good alternative to sports-related gifts are expensive alcohol. The brands don’t have to be too extravagant. A huge bottle of J&B or the commonplace Blue Label Johnnie Walker may suffice. It is always good to let him remember the good old times in the bar where he and his friends can do no better than drink the night away. But giving these kinds of gifts doesn’t mean you’re promoting that again, most men have a wine or alcohol collection stored away in a cabinet, or for the true aficionado, cabinets.
Or it could be as simple as planning a retirement/”bachelor” party for him, where he could simply have a good time with friends, chatting and drinking the night away and enjoying their other company at the gentlemen’s club.
No matter what your gift may be, make sure that is true to the fact that it’ll make the retiree feel as young as possible.
Alternatives
With these general guidelines, it doesn’t necessarily mean that one should forsake personalized gifts. One should always take into account the personality and interests of the retiree. If he loves to read about current events and blogs about it in the internet, then probably a lifetime subscription to The Economist or The Wall Street Journal will be a perfect fit for him. One mustn’t forget that very important and universal rule: suit the gift to his tastes.
Conclusion
Making retirees forget about everything about their age and the limitations that come with it must the premise behind your gift-giving decisions to these retirees. Once you find the perfect blend wherein you mix sports, leisure and fun, then rest assured that you have found the best gift possible for him.
If that cannot be achieved, then simply follow a rule that has stood the test of time. It all comes down to this, know what the person wants and give it to him.

Win Prizes Shopping
June 20th, 2009 Posted 9:09 pm
Internet shopping alert. Here’s something different that I discovered while looking for discount shopping sites. Trader Auction Games has a customers competition where you can win prizes of $50 cash each month just for shopping with one of the shops who sponsor their site. Because it’s new not many shoppers are claiming their free tickets, so, for the members who do, an entry into the shoppers sweepstakes gives them the best chance of winning cash and prizes of any site I have ever seen.
On mining deeper into the site I learnt all about their free auction. This is no joke, it really is free. How they work it is clever. They have designed their free auction so that members of the Trader Auction Games site can sell their unwanted items for points to other members, as members accumulate more points, they then trade up by bidding those points for bigger and better auction items. Members can even use their TAG points to bid on one or more cash auctions. Yes, they bid points to win an auction of real cash money up to $200 in value. When these guys say they have a free auction they aren’t kidding.
Some of the items available in the auction at the time I looked included money, books, clothes, CD’s, DVD’s, perfume, make-up, gift vouchers for stores like Walmart, Avon and Mary Kay beauty products, beach towels, jewellery, baseball collectors cards, toys and other stuff too numerous to mention. It appears to me that Trader Auction Games is trying to be a one-stop shop and doing a very good job of it.
As well as the above, the site has a random prize draw where winners are drawn every few hours. Prizes include cash and other sponsored items from participating shops. Once again Trader Auction Games has stepped outside of the box in developing their random prize draw or sweepstakes. The site guarantees that all members will be selected to win prizes or cash in the TAG City random members prize draw every 2days. Winners are drawn in blocks based on the first letter of their first name. So, all the people whose names start with the letter F may be drawn this time, then 2 hours later all the members whose first names start with L may be drawn and so on until every letter in the alphabet has been drawn. That takes about 48 hours and then the entire process starts over again. As usual, it’s not quite as easy as you would want, the downside is that you only have 2 hours to claim your prize after your name has been drawn. Win up to $500 cash in the TAG City sweepstakes.
I rate the Trader Auction Games site five stars when it comes to shopping, games, competitions and free fun.
