A Father Figurine – Tanner Caruthers

An acoustic song i wrote! tell me what you think. lyrics: I never asked, and you never told. I need to know that I need you no more. Oh father, damned father, how come you never were here. We couldve been a family. Oh mother, my mother, how come you never stood clear of the future in front of you. A willowing boy, wondering why his family didnt quite fit the mold. Oh father, dear mother, we could’ve had a perfect life. Once a coward, then always. Oh father, my father, how fast can your legs go, as youre running away. No pictures remains but the scars never fade. Our bodies are stories of the lives we once lived. Though memories fade, our future remains. You can’t make memories that we never had. How could you run away, a coward portrayed, a coward portrayed. How could you run away, a coward portrayed, a coward portrayed. Movings a quick fix for a broken home. But we can’t move love if we leave it behind. I always thought that we started out strong, but my coward has spent his life trying to hide. I’ve never missed you, oh father of mine. All we’ve been used to is a hole the whole time. A weak man can crawl and a coward can run, but you have to be both to abandon your son. A weak man can crawl and a coward can run, but you have to be both to abandon your son. A feeling of being incomplete. Drifts. Through. Me.

A Look At Two Leading Acoustic Guitar Brands

Comments Off

March 13th, 2010 Posted 12:09 pm

From beginners to professionals, it is important when looking for a new guitar to know what brands will offer the best in quality, range and sound production. Buyers should be aware of what body shape will best suit their needs, which materials provide the best quality, and which guitars offer good sound in a visually appealing guitar.

Deciding on a body shape will depend on what you are using the guitar for. A steel-stringed dreadnought acoustic guitar is great for stand alone performances by artists with a little experience. It has a bigger, more bass sound than the smaller classic body guitar, and a tone that many artists prefer.

On the other hand, smaller instruments such as the classic and artist acoustic guitars can offer the right level of treble sounds to carry through the sounds of a band. They also minimize feedback. Beginners often go for these smaller shapes as they are easier to hold.

The Alvarez acoustic guitar is one of the highest quality instruments available. Based in St Louis, Missouri, this manufacturer prides itself on producing excellent instruments for players of all skill levels. The attention to tradition, detail and quality they put into each instrument is world-renowned, and guitarists the world over choose Alvarez for the tone produced by its instruments. Whilst most of their instruments are produced in China, a select range of higher-end guitars are hand-crafted in Gifu, Japan, by Kazou Yairi.

The Regent series is amongst the most popular in the Alvarez range. Unlike other brands, Alvarez ensures that these entry level instruments are maintain the highest possible quality, providing tuning stability and optimum tone. They are highly recommended for beginners.

The Masterworks series is at the other end of the scale, offering the absolute best in performance and careful attention to the appearance of the instrument. The discerning artist will pay a little extra to benefit from the superior quality and tone of these guitars.

Takamine is another highly distinguished guitar manufacturer. Since they began operation in the early 1960’s, they have maintained a high level of innovation, including being the first to manufacture acoustic/electric guitars. What started as a small family business has grown into one of the world’s biggest producers of quality guitars. The Takamine acoustic guitar is usually modelled to resemble Martin guitars, though without the accompanying price tag.

In comparing these two brands, it is important to keep in mind that there is no one acoustic guitar that will suit all players. Different players will prefer different tones and body shapes. Takamine produces a very wide range of guitars for all budgets and skill levels, but many dislike the bright, clean tone that these instruments produce. The Alvarez is popular for its rich, mellow tone.

Is The Guitar The Coolest Musical Instrument Of All?

Comments Off

March 9th, 2010 Posted 1:45 pm

When compared to just about any other musical instrument out there, it’s hard to dispute that the guitar is extremely cool. Sure, the drums have their fans and there’s something primal about beating on those skins but the guitar can go pretty much anywhere and a drum set can’t. Indeed, most men instantly know that the guitar is the primo, number one instrument of all time.

For most guys who don’t have the musculoskeletal structure to carry around a complete twenty piece, hard-rocking heavy metal drum set on their backs, it’s the guitar by a landslide. Certainly the instrument has done its part to make more men and boys try to learn to play it than anything else ever has ever gotten men and boys to attempt something. Even one of those big dreadnought acoustic guitar rigs has a hold on men and boys unlike most any other instrument.

Besides, women really seem to dig men who can play a musical instrument and especially men who can appear to be masters of the guitar. Actually, they may not really like the guy playing the guitar but the sounds coming from it can go a long way towards helping them get over the pushy guy doing the playing. In truth, most men never become that good but all of them believe that they can, so they have that going for them, fortunately.

Take a moment to consider one of those very nice acoustic guitars like maybe an Alvarez acoustic guitar. It’s made with precision and beauty and many men go weak in the knees at the thought of learning enough to be able to play it well. Realistically, only one in 1000 men will ever really be able to do so, but they have their fantasies and this particular one is generally harmless.

Guitars have really come to dominate cultural music perspective over the last half-century from the time when Chuck Berry first started duck walking across the stage to the sweet sounds of a melodic rendition of ‘Johnny B. Goode.’ And though the whole Chuck Berry thing is meant to be humorous, it’s still true that a guy sitting around with even an acoustic guitar eventually tries to figure out the opening run to that song, no matter his age.

And that’s the ultimate attraction to the guitar; because playing it — whether sitting down with a very expensive Takamine acoustic guitar or a nice electric axe — is nothing but fun. And when somebody really gets good, and is able to pick up a nice Gibson Les Paul and start wailing on it, the world is truly their oyster.

Taken altogether, it’s hard to dispute that the guitar holds a prime place in the world of music. Certainly, it grabs hold of many boys and men in a way that even the most beautiful leather baseball glove can never do. There’s just something about picking up a guitar, no matter if it’s an acoustic or an electric, that helps people feel better about themselves and about the people around them, and that’s a good thing in the end.
