Look to the Internet for Great Gift Ideas

October 27th, 2009 Posted 8:24 am

I’m a little embarassed to admit this, but I am a gift giving catastrophe waiting to happen.  I guess it’s not really that I’m bad about the presenting part, itself.  Whenever it is gift-giving time, it just takes me an extremely long time to move beyond the decision stage.  I don’t know why my ideas seem to me to lack any originality or creativity.  I’m sure you’ve already figured out the solution to my despair: the Internet.

The Internet is full of the usual and the unusual when it comes to gift suggestions.  Of course I know that a lot of the people making suggestions are actually trying to get me to spend my hard earned money.  Actually, I don’t even object to that.  I figure if someone can help me solve my gift quandry, then they deserve to make a profit from my purchase.  In my country, that’s the patriotic way to look at it!

Is there anyplace other than the online world where I might be inspired to get my mother a New York cheesecake in place of the tin of cookies I sent year after year?  Yes, I am clever enough that now I figured out on my own that I can even radically change to a different cheesecake flavor!

My sister-in-law has my same decision making problem.  She went online and discovered a jewelry idea for her aunt (on the good side of the family–not mine).  It worked out beautifully for her but it raised the bar to a higher standard for me.

There are gift ideas online for various age groups like retired folks or young couples.  You can also use a search engine to find articles recommending gifts of all the gift giving occasions from Bat Mitzvahs or Easter, birthdays to graduations, or even what I lovingly refer to as the “Hallmark holidays,” such as Valentine’s Day or Sweetest Day or take your terrier to work day.  You can even search by the category of the item that you want to give.  For example, you might know that you want to give a video game for a Playstation, a piece of jewelry that includes diamonds (you’ve just moved out of my price range) or even a gift for a dog.

There are many entire websites created for gift klutzes just like me where people publish ideas.  Apparently they have so many ideas they can afford to share them.  If you happen to be one of those sorts of blessed people with too many ideas to use yourself, consider sharing them with me so that I can steal them from you and take the credit.  Just publish them online.  You can count on my everlasting appreciation.

Gift basket is a exceptional present given to all people, no matter their ages or genders.  As a result, if one of particular men in your life has unusual occasion in their life, birthdays or the others, you could give the gift basket filled with unusual items inside it. The following article explains more about it.

Ideas

When you think about ideas, there are numerous shrewd ideas you can utilize to design a gift basket for your hubby, papa, brother, or any other man that you desire to give something particular to. Think about what sort of person it is that you will be offering this gift to. You can really make the gift basket personal and give him a few things that he will get pleasure from.

Consider what sort of hobbies and activities he joins. If he worships outdoors activities, the gift basket could be filled with things that are geared toward that. If fishing is his hobby, you could pack his basket with fishing gear and tackle. If he is into hunting or a few other outdoor activities, you can give him a gift basket with items that relate to that.

In presenting your extraordinary men with gift basket, you could also think sorts of jobs he has. Personalized pens and stationary could be perfect presents to give to an executive man.

It may be that the man in your life is a handyman or loves tinkering around in his workshop. In this case, the gift basket could be filled with tools, drill bits, or several other practical items that he can use for his desired hobby.

Of course, furthermore to these things, the gift basket could be filed with some of his favorite snacks or candy bars. Be as creative and personal as you can. Let him know that you put some thought in preparing what he likes.

Several women accept gift baskets that are filled with bath and body products. For the man in your life you can do something akin. Fill a gift basket with things that he will utilize day by day. These items can include cologne, shaving cream, razor blades, body wash, and deodorant. Perhaps you could even throw a new beard trimmer in there.

In the bottom line, giving particular things to the others is such a breathtaking thing to do. The alike condition happens to gift basket. In preparing the gifts to be put in the basket you have got to make sure that the items are personal and particular which manifest him so much. Only by doing so, you could impress him and make him understand how care you are.

Electronic Book Reader Is A Great Gift Idea

April 8th, 2009 Posted 9:14 am

I just ordered one electronic book reader, the Amazon Kindle portable ebook reader. I have been waiting for the next generation device. It is not cheap, as I travel by air almost every other week. Don’t have much room for books – certainly not for more than one.I feel this is great for light reading (magazines, popular fiction etc). If it is too expensive – do not buy it, go use a library instead.

As for button placement and all this other hoop-la, there is likely a good reason it is the way it is – I am certain they have tested it that much. I agree, you would think they could perhaps put together a more design pleasing product(Apple)?). But this ebook reader is a straight forward device that serve one simple purpose. You may not be able to have a touch screen with electronic ink with current technology, you need real estate to hold on to the device without smudging the screen. By the way, they likely want wireless phone connection so folks are more likely to make at the spur of the moment buying decisions (gotta have it now society). It is not easy for the manufacturers to cram all these features into one small device. Just look at mobile phones, even the iphone and Blackberry aren’t any where near perfect and they have been building those things for sometime. iphone has bad calendaring and Blackberry has lousy internet interface (both these things have been refined over the period of years). This will make the competitors busy churning out good products and all this is good for us.

I own the first-generation Kindle and I absolutely love it. I don’t think I’ll jump on the upgrade bandwagon right away, however, since it doesn’t really seem like *that* big of an upgrade for *another* $400. The improved screen refresh and 16 shades of gray is extremely tempting, though. Maybe if I can pawn my old one off on a friend for $150 or something… we shall see.

Kindle 1G is probably more than enough for most if the sole purpose is just to read books. Physically ugly, probably. But enough for most of the time.
