It’s not an official sport event and it will probably never be considered for the Olympics, but the growing popularity of Rubber Doll White-Water rafting in Russia saw the fourth annual contest staged near St.Petersburg. The event, better known as the ‘Bubble Baba Challenge’, is the highlight of the novelty watersports season in Russia, and was held over a testing one kilometre course near St.Petersburg. Contestants are required to brave rapids on the river Vuoksa while embracing a blow-up doll, some of whom had their modesty preserved by t-shirts. The idea to use rubber dolls to race down the rapids was conceived as a joke three years ago during a long rafting trip involving only men. Since then the popularity of this new watersport has grown rapidly. www.itnsource.com Reuters 14348/06

The Mental Health Benefits of Cycling

As the famous saying goes, you never forget how to ride a bike. There are loads of different types of bike riding, which is one reason why so many different people are able to take part. Incredibly, there is also strong evidence to suggest that cycling is a very effective way of reducing the symptoms of depression and get you back on your feet again. So why is that cycling is so good for your mental health?

Outdoors. To kick things off, most bike riding happens in the great outdoors. Research has proved that people recover much better when they are in open spaces and are meeting other people in the outside world. Add to this the fact that getting some sun is proven to make you feel happier and fresh air has a similar effect. Bikes are also a great deal easier to transport than other outdoor equipment like surfboards or used kayaks.

Healthy body, healthy mind. The causes of depression are incredibly varied, although many people quickly start to follow a similar pattern. Many people begin to neglect their physical health and appearance when they are depressed and this leads to a downward spiral of confidence and mood. Because cycling is an aerobic activity, it helps to reduce fat in the body very effectively and also improves muscle tone. Often people who start to feel better about their appearance, also start to feel better inside as well as their confidence grows.

Endophines. Exercise, and especially cycling, has been proven to release feel-good hormones into the body called endorphins. These endorphins enhance your senses, give you more energy and make you feel happier. So it is easy to see why tests show exercise to be among the most effective treatment methods for depression. So if you’re feeling a bit low, find a pair of second hand bikes and go for a ride with a friend or partner

In the poker business, we have seen incredible growth over the last few years. Business people are making big money during this poker boom. We will show you how business people are being successful in the poker industry.

Before we look at that, here are the reasons why this boom has happened. There were three key things that created the increase in action at the poker tables. Now, in chronological order, these are the things that occurred that led to the growth in poker.

We begin in 1994 when polish poker player, inventor, Henry Orenstein designed, and patented, the know how for the the “pocket cam”. The fans are now able to see the hole cards that each of the players have during TV replays. “Hole card cam’s” debut happened in 1997 on an English poker telecast.

Poker had been on TV since the 70?s, however few people were watching. The reason for this was that not having the knowledge of what the players were working with, you had no idea what the players were trying to do. The hole card cam made poker on television incredibly entertaining.

The next event that was essential in creating the poker explosion was the arrival of the online poker rooms. The original internet poker room was up and running in 1998. Players can now play poker from the comfort of the location of their own choice. Internet poker will see consistent growth as poker players became comfortable with this new poker format.

Now we’re ready for the final thing that produced the poker boom. When Chris Moneymaker beats some of the top pros in the game to win the world series of poker Main Event in 2003, we see poker explode. Getting his seat by winning a $40 online satellite tournament, then capturing the title, sets off this unique boom.

The combination of the pocket camera improving the popularity of watching poker on TV, and the surge of online poker rooms adding to the number of poker players, had set the stage for poker to take off to incredible levels of popularity. Everyone seeing an internet, rookie player, capture the biggest title in all of poker, poker took off.

The poker boom ushers in an incredible number of opportunities for aggressive entrepreneurs. There are seemingly endless ways to make a living in the booming world of poker. The majority of these business opportunities are internet. Here is a short list of a few of the businesses you could start in the booming poker world.

Those with the skill have turned themselves into poker pros. Some dedicated marketers have gotten extremely wealthy by acting as an affiliate for the online poker rooms. Books on poker strategy seem to be big sellers.

Businesses are making software programs that allow online players in increasing the knowledge about their play from the information gathered from their past play. People are starting their own online poker rooms. We even see live poker leagues being run at bars and meeting rooms all over the country.

These are some, but by no means all, of the interesting opportunities that people are finding to cash in on the rapid expansion of poker. Operating a poker opportunity from the internet appears to be the most promising. The future for poker still looks bright, and there is plenty of money to be made for those business people that are ready to take a chance.

We were all getting pretty aroused to affirm the minimum and only a few seconds later the money appeared in my bingo balance.
