Hummel Figurines
Hummel Figurines of Distinction
If you've spent any amount of time collecting Hummel figurines, you will know their intrinsic value, not to mention their appealing
nature. Serious collectors have their Hummel figurines tucked safely away in a lovely cabinet that keeps them in pristine condition.
Most collectors will also be able to tell you the true hallmark of a Hummel figurine so that you don't get taken in by buying one at a flea
market that LOOKS like it is a Hummel, but isn't genuine. The easiest things to look for are the signature of Sister Hummel, the mold
number and the Goebel trademark. If you don't see these, then do not buy the figurine, unless it doesn't matter to you whether you own an
original or not.
If you are serious about what you are doing, then take the time to check all your proposed purchases out. You can do that yourself, or
take them to an appraiser. By the way, you don't have to do that in person. You can also do this online by checking with Dr. Lori of
Trash and Treasure fame. Great service and you don't have to leave the comfort of your own home to get this done. For Hummel
figurines of distinction, make sure you check the bottom for its providence.
